Are you a True Blue DXer?
« on: June 05, 2018, 05:10:02 AM »

Hello,

If watching a computer make contacts for you is not your idea of DX...
If you are decoding by human ears and brain power...
...then you are a True Blue DXer!

THE TBDXC IS NOT JUST ANOTHER DX CLUB
The one and only requirement is your personal commitment to pursuing and promoting DXing as a form of person-to-person amateur radio activity involving the use of radiotelegraphy (CW) or radiotelephony (SSB).

I would like to invite you to join us here:
https://www.tbdxc.net/

My best regards,
73 - Petr, M0SIS

This makes about as much sense as saying "no true DX'er uses Yagis because it makes it easy."

Hello,

sorry to say it is definitely wrong deduction...

The club is trying to pointing out that ham radio operation should stay in human, person to person communication instead of full automation using PC systems on both sides without any operator's intervention as it can be seen these days!

What do you think about the SWL skimmer getting all hearable FT8 QSOs on the air which are processed in the PC and dedicated SW after to generate automatically QSLs to be send thru eQSL... Do you think that it is just an idea from the future? No it is reality > check the eQSL...

What do you think about the 2-way QSO using FT8 where on both sides is set the full automation and operators does not need to touch the station... I mean from the beginning till the end of QSO including the eQSL? Yes, it is the reality.

Human ears and brain power in ham radio communication this is what the club is trying to pursuing, promoting and keep for the future. Nothing else...

Thank you very much for reading it.

Best regards,
73 - Petr, OK1RP

Hi Petr.....I agree with you in part.  I worked FT8 got my Triple Play Award and got bored.  DXing is all I do. But its only 59/599 TU and I'm sure that's not much human contact.  Also I feel true DXing would be to search for DX on your own and not use spotting net works.  But I think we all would agree its a SUPER hobby with something for everyone.

The one and only requirement is your personal commitment to pursuing and promoting DXing as a form of person-to-person amateur radio activity involving the use of radiotelegraphy (CW) or radiotelephony (SSB).

Why do you exclude RTTY, PSK31 and other modes which can be just as person-to-person as CW or SSB?

Why exclude AM or FM?

I don't understand why you selected only CW and SSB. Are you aware that CW can be produced by a computer program? SSB can be transmitted from a recording. The whole thing seems totally arbitrary but I hope you have fun with your exclusive club.  ::)

I agree with N5INP; Lyle W6WF; ND6M; KG4NEL.

If You are giving 59/599, You are much worse than any robot or computer. This is all about true idiots. Only 13% of my signal reports are 59/599. And when it is really -73dBm +/-3dB = S9, I am forced to say, it is "S9 according to my S meters readings".

If You do not care about real signal strength, just omit mentioning it, not fake it up, idiot!

I like this guy.  A computer making contacts with someone elses computer is NOT A QSO, PERIOD!

If you can not carry on a conversation with the person, and you can exchange no real information, your not in a QSO.  If your not keying the mic or banging the CW key, it aint a qso.  Not much more than a wireless "email".

The idea of an a award for something like WAS FT8 is about a useless award as has ever been invented.  Please, tell me.  IF the SHTF, what in the hell are you going to use FT8 for???   Nope, voice and CW will rule then.

I think I  decode the SSB and CW by the ears and the brain sometimes .The old style of the operation is still popular these years.

In reality your computer get the Triple Play Award since you did not make a single one of those contacts on FT8.Now there is something worth bragging about at the club meeting or here on the World Wide Web.Tell your computer Congrats on the hard work from me.Guess there will be a Worked All Computers in the USA Award next then of course all of the other entities in the world next. LOL I can hardly hold back from screaming from the excitement but I will restrain myself.  ::) :o

Hmm... Clayton, I have scanned and I don't see your callsign listed as a Triple Play award holder.  Is this a case of we pee on what we don't have the wherewithal to work for?  Pse advise if I have made an error and you are an actual Triple Play award holder.. I will be awaiting your reply. Tnx in advance.  :)
