FTdx-101 is listed on Sherwood Engineering receiver comparison list. It is the top performing receiver and superior to the IC-7610. But either receiver high performance, it does not matter much.

Yup,  +1 vote there.
In fact, Rob will tell you that given the noise levels created by "civilization",
most people will not see or hear much difference in performance.
Especially given where the SunSpot cycle is.
But any of the transceivers on the top few pages of Sherwood's list will get you
DXCC just fine.

It get's down to which one has which specific features and slightly better
this and that, which appeals to a specific person.
I make QSO's with people using Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu, Flex, Elecraft,
Anan, and others.   And the point is,  I make the QSO with them.
So apparently their rig worked, even if it is an old boat anchor.
(I am sure you have seen them drifting sideways across your FT-8 waterfall :-) )

Which one is superior?  That changes each year with the endless game
of leapfrog, competition, and innovation, which leads to endless cycles
of spending and fun :-)

Cheers
