Cactus Intertie (Cactus Radio) System
« on: November 14, 2018, 08:06:57 PM »

Their coverage map shows what looks like 4 repeaters in or around the Tucson, AZ area.  However, I have yet to be able to find a listing of any of their repeater frequencies.  This appears to be a closed system that requires membership for access.  They specifically say that you should "monitor" one of their repeaters and decide if you think you will be a good fit for their membership.  Since I cannot find any of their repeaters listed anywhere, that makes it a little difficult to find and/or monitor the system.

Does anyone have any idea what ANY of the Cactus Intertie repeater frequencies are in the Tucson area??

Check out the Arizona Repeater Owners Frequency Coordination Committee website.  It lists all of the repeaters in Arizona.  Cactus Intertie is listed under 70cm.

https://www.azfreqcoord.org/listings.htm

Virtually every state has an Amateur Frequency Coordination group and they typically have a website and a listing of repeaters.  I found the Arizona Repeater Owners Frequency Coordination Committee website using a google search for "Arizona Amateur Frequency Coordination".  Insert any state and off you go.

Quite handy for finding repeaters if you are traveling and do happen to have the ARRL repeater guide handy.

Listen, listen listen but don't transmit on 448.625 on Lemmon, 447.625 which should be downtown and 448.975 which If my memory still works is the Tumamoc Hill site or I may have the 447.625 and 448.975 locations swapped but either way it doesn't matter as these should get you started on listening.

There are many more throughout the Tucson area and beyond but these should do.

You need to be sponsored by a member who you know and it is good to also have experience in RF systems and or antennas also as members are expected to help with the system not just pay for things and use it.
