Linking two EFHW-8010 end fed wire antennas
« on: February 19, 2019, 04:04:12 PM »

Brand new General with an end fed wire question. I am going to mount two EFHW-8010 antennas on my 40 ft tower. They will be 40 at the tower slopping to 10 ft at the end of the 130 ft. One will run N-S and the other E-W. Now the question(s). Would there be any advantage to linking the two and will it work? If it will work do they make or can I make a remote coax switch that will have three options. 1. Link the two together. 2. Only N-S antenna. 3. Only E-W antenna. Just letting my mind explore the outer rim of the known universe.     Thanks

You have to be incredibly lucky or do some clever engineering to connect two antennas together like that to get omnidirectional coverage, so I wouldn't bother with linking the two together.

A turnstile is an example of combining two antennas together for an omni pattern.
