I typically use google or the QST contest calendar to try to figure it out. .... Maybe google/QST is a better approach than trying to construct a table of all the possibilities

The WA7BNM Contest Calendar would be a more complete source of info at ....
https://www.contestcalendar.com/index.html

"This site provides detailed information about amateur radio contests throughout the world, including their scheduled dates/times, rules summaries, log submission information and links to the official rules as published by the contest sponsors"

The WA7BNM site is the one I use.  Usually it has link to contest rules, log submission etc.  Often the rules suggest a cq message for the contest.

If cw band conditions are usable between US/Japan, you might hear JAs calling "CQ -..---"  If stateside stations reply, the JAs usually won't respond.  First time I heard this, I thought that maybe the "-..---" was a poorly-sent "NJ", and maybe a New Jersey QSO party was going on.  But no, it wasn't that...

"-..---", to a JA station, refers to Japanese "Morse", called "wabun".  "CQ -..---" indicates that the sender is looking for another JA station for a QSO using wabun.  The JARL has contests, especially for JAs hunting JCC and JCG awards (similar to WAS and USA-CA).
