stupid dx maps does not take our upper 10 meter postings and even when it works it seems to skip many other postings which would make it appear that 10 is dead when it isn't.

And right now with fm n ssb stns fron 4 land in to oregon dx maps doesn't even move beyond the map page with login not even working.

There have been good nightly 2-3 hour E openings from northern oregon to south america on ssb/cw and on FM with base and even mobiles in the southeast states, arkansas, louisiana and florida on 29.6MHZ and then some good ft8 and cw to kh6 hawaii and vk australia during our pre-noon hours.

At times it seems that 10 meters is more of a magic band than 6 is.

Thanks I'll be checking the 10 meter band. I haven't spent much time on 6 meters, why do you say
that 6 is magic band, are the openings different? surely they must be less at a higher frequency?

I've sent a slew of mostly 40m formatted DX spots to DXMaps in the last couple of days. All of them appeared within a few moments.  That is odd yours wouldn't show up on 10m.

Yes, if 6M is open, 10M will usually be. This time of the year, Es (skip) happens a lot on 6M even up to 2M on occasion. I've been licensed since 1962 and 6M will always be MY Magic Band.
With the advent of FT8, etc, one can work MS about any time. The Military used MS for communication links a LONG time ago, sending packets of data whenever a Meteor made a link possible.

My favorite times, were very early on weekend mornings from my Ky QTH. My antenna pointed North and waiting for a 'ping' that would allow an exchange on SSB.
Sometimes you would get a "Blue Wizzer" and the link would be open for 10 seconds or so.

I'm NOT in favor of the digital modes. (Just an OF who likes to work for a QSO)
Go to DXMaps and see how outnumbered I am!! ha ha

There is a wealth of information on the "Magic Band" on the www. It has about every possible mode of propagation known. EME, TEP, MS, Es, Tropo, etc.

Does anyone have experienced with the President Lincoln III+ in CW and SSB modes? Particularly quality and sensitivity of receiver and quality of SSB signals. Also, signal and quality reports of stations in QSO with the unit.

Heard one station using it, and he sounded very good on SSB.  I have the original President 2510 that came out in the late '80s, and it's a darn good radio.  Was even written up in QST!  I think you can find a review about the new Lincoln on  www.CBradioMagazine.com
