Suggestion to The FCC
« on: May 14, 2019, 06:35:52 AM »

So this morning I got an email from The FCC with my license re-up in it.
I printed it out but then thought about how drab it looked on my own white printer paper.
So I called them up and made a suggestion.

I had heard that the reason they discontinued the nice green, water marked, cardboard licenses is that it was costing them to much for supplies/printing and shipping etc.
So my suggestion was that for whatever that cost was plus 100% they could offer the nice old cardboard licenses to those who would pay for them.
I told the lady I am vain enough to cough up the dough and maybe there were others?
She said she would pass it up the chain and see what happens.

Maybe if a few people called it would encourage them?
(877) 480-3201 option one

In 2014 the license was printed on a slightly tan, or off-white security stock.

I was content with that. Can't comment on the green version.

Maybe they could have a choice?

I renewed my license online and ended up calling the FCC because I thought there was a mistake, when the system showed No Fee due. I was surprised to find out there are no longer any renewal fees.
They can print it on recycled toilet paper for all I care now. Besides, I’d rather show someone what an on air contact is like rather than try to impress them with a piece of fancy paper.

So load up some nice linen or parchment stationery in your printer.  I make home-printed certificates this way.  You can make this happen a lot faster than waiting on the FCC.

The old FCC Commercial Radio licenses were always printed on nicely fonted
and colorful paper, but the new Commercial Radio licenses are now printed on
the generic white printer paper.

Unless they will print my license on a denomination of currency greater than $100, I can’t be bothered

This is something you might ELECT TO DO.
Nothing required. If you want to do it do it, if not, don't.

I could tell he was playing it cool with the other OP. Bold and Caps were the dead giveaway that nobody lost their cool.  ::)

This is what I do. The school district that I work for encourages us to have our state licenses, and other certifications framed and posted in our classrooms. I think they look a lot better when printed on parchment paper.
