I always liked going there for Hamvention.
But in later years, it was really going downhill.
I doubt it would have taken much to tear that place up.
Probably wasn't much left holding the roof in place anyways.

And the value of the property went up by at least $100.
"Missed it by this much, chief."

Hi,
After all these years, it looks like they have finally started to refurbish Hara Arena. The IMPROVEMENTS are amazing….

Fake News , Turns out it was just a methane gas explosion from a backed up toilet. Its a amazing what a little "wind" can do.
It looks like the end for Hara.

Toilet backup? That year the sewer broke in the middle of the flea market was a blast. I heard a couple of foreign hams say 'just like in my country'.

Rumor has it that they were going to cut up parts of it into little pieces and sell them like the Berlin Wall , But the market is a little saturated right now.

I hope old -8JX is OK. We haven't heard his curmudgeon commentaries this season. Certainly he must have ruminations on this matter to share with humanity.

That tornado that went through Trotwood (Hara Arena) was just upgraded from an F-3 to and F-4 by the National Weather Service.
https://www.wlwt.com/article/dayton-area-tornado-upgraded-to-rare-violent-ef4/27667652
"DAYTON, Ohio —Officials with the National Weather Service have upgraded a Dayton-area tornado to an EF4, making it the most powerful storm in the state of Ohio in more than 10 years
The tornado touched down late Monday, moving across Montgomery County from west of Brookville through
Trotwood
, parts of Dayton and Riverside.
The violent storm had estimated maximum winds of 170 mph, NWS officials said."

I last was to Dayton the year that the sewer pipe broke in the flea market. The whole place was a dump so how could a tornado make it any worse. The only good thing is that the F4 didn't impact Zenia during the hamfest. I was through an F5 in 1990 and the destruction is absolute.

Place was pretty much a wreck before the tornado.
