WA2VOI Imposter
« on: June 06, 2019, 08:58:49 AM »

I should have know better. I place a wanted add for ICOM SP-38 speakers. Someone pretending to be Donn Baker WA2VOI answered. I normal PayPal him the funds 2 weeks later no further communications and nothing in my porch (no speakers). Looking back at the way I handled the entire transaction it would have been different.

If you used "normal" Paypal, file a claim and get your money back.  If by "normal" you meant "Friends & Family", you screwed yourself.

His email address is wa2voi@arrl.net and it is not published on his qrz.com page so it's no surprise criminal scammers used his callsign to defraud.

You need to open a dispute on PayPal. This arsehole got me for 500 bucks recently, but PayPal got it back - it took 30 days, but I was covered. Never use the Friends and family feature on Paypal. Always use goods and services and pay the 3% if the seller asks for it!  Good Luck!
