Remote radio control via R-pi
« on: June 24, 2019, 09:37:50 PM »

So I have been looking into setting up radios for remote access here lately as I have access to a very large tower and antenna system there but it's 5 miles away.
I am in process of setting up a 100Mb microwave shot between here at the house and the tower site, and would like to connect to several radios on different bands.
RemoteHams is an option, and can be operated without internet connection, but does of course require IP connectivity between the remote and the server.  That's simple enough, but each radio would require a computer to interface the radio with.  I have plenty of computers, but if I could use Raspberry Pi's for the radio interface server it would free up a tone of physical space.

ANy thoughts or direction on controlling radios remotely using raspberry pi as a the radio interface / server?

Look up the product MFJ-1234.  That's the latest and greatest.

Also, there's RemoteTX which is more limited in scope but seems to be more established.

That MFJ certainly looks good, but the mark-up is very high!
