Looking for a copy of Dad's old QSL card K2RFY
« on: July 31, 2019, 11:13:05 AM »

Hi,
New ham here, new member.   It has been nice to read some of the stories here of finding old hams, connecting, etc..  It's been encouraging.

My Dad (Dennis) was first licensed in the early 50's when he was about 13.  He was from Pearl River, NY.   His callsign was K2RFY.   He mentioned that one QSL card he had had a rainbow on it.  That's about all he told me.   What I'm hoping for is that someone here would have one in their collection.   I'd love just a snapshot of it front/back so that I could send to him.

It's been fun talking ham radio with him recently.  He let his license expire in the 60's and hasn't been back since.   He is planning to take his test in the next couple of weeks.  I mentioned how he can take the tech exam and be reinstated at his old license level (I think he was General).   Also, he should be able to get his old callsign back which would be great.

Thanks for looking, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

I’ve been keeping an eye on this. I appreciate everyone who has taken a look. I know it’ll just take time and the luck of the right person who may have just looked through an old collection of cards. I’ll continue to keep my eye on it as well.

Just an update... back in August my dad retook his test. He actually took all three and aced all of them. He’s an Extra now. New call is AC4DH.
They live in an antenna restricted community so hopefully he can still successfully get in the air.

Thanks for continuing to look.
