Digital Modes on Club Repeater
« on: September 09, 2019, 09:05:00 PM »

Our club is contemplating setting up a digital repeater on 2m. If approved as trustee I will have to be able to monitor/control it. We are looking at a R-B MMDVM controller set up for DMR,-D-Star, and Fusion/Wires-X. I am looking for an idea of a decent radio to buy to monitor/control it. I currently have zero digital mode radios.

Probably easier to control it over the Internets.  I stopped worrying about RF control when I got an SCOM 7330 and connected a serial server to it.  I could pull up a terminal on my phone and key in any commands I wanted.

My friend monitors all those modes with an SDR-Play connected to his laptop.  Not really portable, but works well.  I don't think you'll find a radio that does all those modes at the same time.

That's what I'm finding out and much cheaper.
