IC-7610 Display Screen Phobia (DSP) has become pandemic?
« on: November 12, 2019, 02:35:39 PM »

IMHO, it’s not whining and/or complaining or the word “display screen” in the topic heading that affects any potential buyer, seller, owners of the IC-7610, it’s the Fear of finding out and/or hearing bad news on something that is most desirable for one’s ham shack!

I call it the IC-7610 Display Screen Phobia (DSP) which falls in the family of an anxiety disorder that can be so powerful it can eclipse common sense and sometimes causes people to lash out and act irrational, especially on user groups that calls for action by the moderator to put a stop to any mention of the IC-7610 display screen defect as some kind of fantasy which is a mindset very far from reality.

DSP should not be confused with Digital signal processing, but for one’s human processing that their IC-7610 SDR dreams forever being stigmatized by ICOM’s mismanagement of the display screen defect.  Especially when there is no official ICOM cure on the horizon after almost two years of waiting for the final solution!

It time for us to leave the world of fantasy and start concentrating on the reality of cutting our losses!

It’s very unfortunate that ICOM has screwed the pooch on the IC-7610 with defective display screens!

There a lot of hysterical noobs trying to escalate the problem.
Truth is, that replacement display costs 50$ and is available all over the world to buy.
End of story.

Icom has clearly stated their intentions to replace the defective screens. It's become hysteria for many hams. Too bad. It will be fixed.

There are EVEN more hysterical 7610 owners who try to hide and minimize the issue. Why should Icom 7610 owners be expected to buy a display and replace it? Why are you giving Icom a pass on this issue?

The real truth is Icom has wasted years of Goodwill from hamradio buying customers by not fixing the display issue.

DO we REALLY  need yet another 7610 display issue topic. Hasn't this issue been Beat To Death on eham?

There is nothing new. 7610 owners with the Issue bitch and moan. Those owners without the issue defend, deflect and minimize the issue. And Icom does NOTHING.

Your right on the money Stan, I laugh at all the 7610 owners that say my radio has no display problem issue and call anyone who bitches about it in a certain 7610 forum winning. I could only hope when there display goes mustang two or three times they can spill out the same BS they are giving us. Icom USA has screwed the pooch big time, who ever is in charge of the USA division on this side will have hell to pay once Icom corporate of Japan really finds out how badly this has been handled cause it will effect future sale of this radio.
Its funny cause my wife who has been handling Public Relations for almost 40 year for some major Tech companies has looked at how in my hobby Icom has address there advertising and in her eye's they have always been top notch but she has seen how aggravated this issue has effected any of us who have had a passion for our hobby for many many years, clearly she doesn't get why Icom is not doing more, she had in her earlier years dealt with companies like NEC back in the seventies so she has been involved with corporate Japan many many times so it baffles her why such a poor response from a company like Icom. They are losing face and reputation which for a Japanese company is the one thing they treasure and very hard to re gain.
Many here like myself are on our second or third display which have gone mustang, yes they are replacing the displays for how ever long they need to be but at this point we have a radio that is costing us more of a negative investment and the bottom line is we still like the rest of the radio but if you ask me once they have this supposed new display they should be reaching out to the 2nd and 3rd display failure customers and replace the whole radio, take all the info down if they haven't already gotten it by now, contact us then ship the new radio out with a call tag for our defective radio, to me that is what needs to be done not this beating around the bush story after story and being handled like a $9.95 cheap watch instead of a $3000 special interest hobby radio!
Again for those posting here and think this is a winning complaint you either do not own this radio or if you do your radio's display is working fine now it clearly hasn't gone mustang YET but just wait then we will see after shipping your radio back two or three times for the same problem then you have walked in our shoes!
Stan it hasn't been beaten to death enough till Icom screams uncle! LOL besides we now have almost as many posts on the FTDX101D/MP but Yaesu is doing the right thing!
