Linking Two Yaesu FUSION Repeaters
« on: November 19, 2019, 05:29:07 PM »

Hello Group,
Forgive me if I have not taken the time to search for this subject herein first.  I am trying to do something that seems very simple yet I find several different answers.

I have two sites, about 100 miles apart (the distance isn't relevant).

I have a Yaesu DR-1X Fusion repeater at each site, running in 440 MHz mixed mode.

I have reliable internet at each site, plenty of bandwidth.

I would like to link these repeaters together, full time.  I don't really care if they're linked together on analog mode, but would definitely like them linked when someone is using digital.

I am getting mixed information about the WIRES-X box.  Do I need this or don't I?  I don't particularly care to tie my repeaters to others nodes, rooms, etc.  I just want to tie the two together and I don't have a solid RF path to do this.

Any solid, clarifying information from experience is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
N4DBM.
