A Few "Air Checks" - SWLing Ham and Mars
« on: November 29, 2019, 01:58:03 PM »

Here are a couple of videos of what I call, Airchecks.  An aircheck (used to be 'air check') is a sampling of some transmission, for later verification, analysis, etc.

1) This is a video of a random Air Check of a US Army MARS (Military Auxiliary Radio System) upper-sideband (USB) shortwave voice net - received on my Icom IC-7610 (Story of my Icom, see below):

2) VOLMET - Aviation Weather - This is Trenton Radio, an aviation weather station on shortwave radio, provided by Canadian military.  The broadcast is on 6754 kHz (which is 6.754 MHz), using the upper-sideband mode. Time of received transmission of Trenton Military VOLMET on 6754 kHz [USB] @ 0935 UTC, 22-November-2019.  This is an audio and screen capture of the signals received at the radio room of NW7US.

The radio used is an Icom IC-7610.  The software is Win4IcomSuite.

Note:  About my radio.  Here is my Icom IC-7610 story, "LIGHTNING STRIKE BRINGS NEW RADIO - ICOM IC-7610", at this link:
