Hallicrafters SX-122 Calibrator
« on: December 26, 2019, 07:07:47 AM »

HI:

Does anyone here happen to know if the HA-7 and HA-19 Xtal calibrators are interchangeable in the SX-122 vs. SX-122a?
My (not necessarily accurate) understanding is that the SX-122 and 122a are pretty much the same receiver.  I have access to an HA-19 that I would like to try using in my SX-122.  The HA-19 was specified for the SX-122a though.

thanks in advance for any advice.

Well, they are both 100KHz calibrators and they both use the same tube (6AU6). And, I think the schematic is the same. The HA-7 used a tube type crystal and the HA-19 used a standard crystal. So if the plugs are the same and are wired the same, I would give it a try.

Here is a link to a QRZ discussion showing what someone did about the lack of a HA-7.

Thanks.   That's what I would think.  I can't locate the SX-122a manual to see the schematic for the HA-19.   So I am still a little unsure,

I dug around and found a blurry copy of the HA-19 schematic.  It's basically the same as the HA-7.  Physically, the pin/socket arrangement is different, but that's no big deal, I'll just rewire appropriately.

Thanks again for info.
