Index links in iOS 13 not working properly
« on: February 08, 2020, 09:42:11 PM »

I've noticed that hyperlinks in tables, such as those applicable to eHam forum lists, or next-level thread lists, are not working properly since my iPad upgrade to iOS 13.  Often, tapping a link will select the one below the intended one and, as the page activity grows, links frequently stop working completely.  A friend's iPad running iOS 13 has the same problem, while an old iPad running an earlier version of iOS is fine.  My iPhone running iOS 12 is also fine, as is my Win 10 PC.

I see a fairly long list of issues with iOS 13, including some associated with Safari links that are supposed to be fixed in the latest iOS 13.2.1 (which I am running).  Interestingly, I notice the same behaviour when using Chrome with iOS 13.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has the same problem and whether there's a known workaround.

I’m running iOS13 on my iPhone and it sometimes picks the wrong link, but not often. I use Safari as it retains the “log on” cookie, but can use Firefox and it looks and feels just the same.

I don’t know about viewing with an iPad, but the site isn’t the best when it comes to viewing on a mobile phone. The old format was easier.

Thanks Dave - very helpful.  It looks to be basically an iOS issue but it's strange that there isn't a more obvious web reference to the problem.  Apple folk are strange in their priorities, though!

The new eHam is no great shakes on the iPad (worse since the site update) but I often use the tablet to browse casually when out and about.  It's been tolerable up to this point but, after a while navigating around a particular index page, the site becomes unusable until a refresh.  Needless to say it gets a bit wearing, especially when coupled with the infernal scroll bars.
