I will be interested to see if fear of coronavirus suppresses Dayton Hamvention attendance this year.  Absent dire developments, I plan to attend.

Mid-May will be well past the annual flu season.  There have been over 10,000 deaths attributed to the 2019-2020 annual flu, a statistic which has been ignored.

China is already seeing a reduction in the number of cases.  At present, the US has identified around 80 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of a population of over 330 million.

The crew from OKC has their CTU and Hamvention tickets, reservations for lodging, and a mini-van reserved.  See all y'all at Hamvention.

Agreed, Covid 19 will be in the rear view mirror by may.  The 24 hour news cycle has to have something to yapp about.  This is it.  We have lost 2 people in this country to Covid -19 so far.  We have lost thousands to regular flu.

You all know  by now that the main media news network called CNN and CSNBC seem to breath extra life into old bad news! Just go on the CDC web site and you will see that more people have dies from regular flu season this year in the USA than what this virus has taken world wide. These news networks are like the Weather Channel which blows any bad WX way over board these days!

Hype or not, major tradeshows throughout Europe are being cancelled. The economic impact will register.

Yeah, I was waiting for a swine flu comment.
We have a traveling show passing thru called "shen yun" I can bet that attendance will be down, the show is all about the history of China.

I will be interested to see if fear of coronavirus suppresses Dayton Hamvention attendance this year.  Absent dire developments, I plan to attend.

Cannot speak to what DARA is planning as a contingency, but trade organizations I'm involved with are concerned enough to be developing their "Plan-B" if their response is needed.

They are also worried what could happen if attendees stay away, whether ordered to, out of fear, or just from caution.

Bloggers like Jeff KE9V have started discussions on the contingencies.  (Link https://ke9v.net/2020/03/03/impact/ ) I've briefly read a few others discussing their thoughts on the 2020 Corona-Hamvention risks vs benefits.

Seems if the individual ham is paid and organized, they are waiting to see what develops - though if they are not bought-in they appear to be avoiding making plans & payments.

Thinking of Hamvention 2020 and related activities like FDIM, one ponders if the coronavirus impact will fundamentally change the format of any future events?  Or is it just a blip?
