CW is still in use in the USN for signal lights and is being taught again for backup radio communications.
Whenever I wasn't on watch in Radio Central on Kitty Hawk, I'd go up to the signal bridge and temporarily relieve one or two watchstanders so they could duck into the Sigs Shelter to warm up, dry off, or whatever.  Fun times!

This entire thread is pretty much a waste of bandwidth.

That's where I first learned it, then promptly forget all of it when I went to diving school.

The only diving Ive done is in a diesel sub which was as a Guest when our ship was being used as a target for the students at the New London Sub School.

I did that in the early part of my career (1967) before I went to diving school.

OK.  That seems to be a common opinion on this topic.  Thank you for your participation, perhaps someday I will get on HF and if you are there then we might chat.
Good day.

Kid, have you rehabilitated yourself?

are you suggesting that litterbugs can be rehabilitated???

i'd suggest that we all, regardless of callsign group, go get a bite to eat at Alice's Restaurant -- but i hear they are only doing take-out right now  :P

I do not believe anyone should claim to be a genius just because they have a AE class license.  I would hope to encourage people to get the license instead of discouraging them with names like "Amateur Extra Big Boy!" and "Genius".

The Extra these days is no more than a glorified real Technician level exam from the bad old days. No skills besides memorizing enough to pass without having a clue about the subject. Some even do it all in one pass, Tech to Extra, and then head to the forums to get even simple questions answered.

Oh that's an easy one. The ground from the key goes to the center pin of the phone connector. ;) ;)
