l me that your straight key isn't wireless?  ;D

How to set up a wireless straight key:

1. Place your straight key in a convenient place for sending on your desk.

2. Set your rig for SSB transmission on an appropriate frequency, as for calling CQ.

3. As you tap out CQ on your straight key, voice the appropriate Morse character into
your microphone. Remember to voice all your dits and dahs; none will be automatic.

I wired a straight key across one of the switch contacts in a USB mouse.  Does that count?   ;D

As for CW, it's not like anyone is asking that its use be banned on ham radio.

;D ;D You could call it the MouseKeyteer.

As for CW it's certainly more amateur radio than FT8. :-X

Changing the names of the license classes wouldn't be wise after all these decades but I understand what the OP is saying. The Novice, Experimenter, Conditional, General and Advanced all make sense but the Extra was always silly to me. Like it's the first thing that popped into someones head at an FCC meeting. In 1951, the thinking might've been on track but I never liked the term Extra. The Advanced should've been the highest class because it suggests the highest level of skill.

The "Extra" license term dates from the 1920s, when the Department of Commerce issued Commercial Extra First Class and Amateur Extra First Grade licenses.

I don't understand why some people have the need to change a system that works just fine as is...
Makes 'em feel important, I guess.
I've always been of the position that, "if ain't broke, don't fix it."

Frankly, I like my 1x3 call. Got it as a sequential issue when I upgraded from Tech to General in 1979.
When I finally upgraded to Extra by passing a 20 WPM code test, I decided to keep my old call.

I've had this call for 41 years, and I plan on keeping it until the mortal coil assumes room temperature.

There should be an X class license, a basic operator class for the XYL. No technical stuff at all, just radio procedures.

I would like to be able to call the house and talk to the wife w/o her needing a Technician license. I maintain the station compliance, so she doesn’t need any of that.

Back in the 1970s, used to do that all the time with autopatch on 2 meters.

There's been a device that does exactly that for years.  It's called a cellphone.
