RFI detection device, a bit unusual ?
« on: March 18, 2020, 01:18:09 PM »

Read in one of many sites on RFI advice that device below is useful for detection on RFI.

https://www.tempocom.com/products/multi-filter-tone-probe-200xp/

Have home theater system thru whose components and connections I need to go to attempt isolate RFI source.  Principle noise on 80M.

Feels unusual but any experience or advice? Any better than Icom R30 set to freq of principle noise?

Those are intended to detect an audio tone on a wire. For example, you have a bundle of phone wires so you connect a tone generator on a wire at one end of the bundle and use this device to identify which wire has the tone generator connected to it. Since it is intended for work in the audio range, I doubt that it would be a good detector of high frequency RFI. Your receiver would probably work much better.
