FC-20 FT100D Tuning Protocol and Signals Help
« on: March 28, 2020, 02:34:19 PM »

I could use some help understanding how the FC-20 works. Can someone scope these signals or otherwise know the answers? I assume the FC-20 asks the FT-100D for the frequency periodically so it will know to set and/or store the tuner settings in its memory. Thanks in advance...

1) What is the protocol signaling between the FC-20 and the FT100D, in particular the Tx Ground signal and the Tx Inhibit signal in the 8 pin tuner connector?

2) Does the FC-20 hold Tx to ground when it starts tuning and then releases it when tuning is completed?

3) Does the FC-20 know to start tuning when it sees RF, or when it sees the Tx line transition low?

4) Does the FC-20 pull Tx Inhibit low when the SWR is still more than 2:1 after attempting to tune? The FT-100 then does not transmit anymore without a power reset cycle including of the FC-20?

No one has any information? Sad. :(

Well, I wrote Yaesu. Lets see if they respond. I will share their response here.
