Kenwood TM-D710GA as an Echolink node
« on: April 11, 2020, 07:37:59 PM »

I'm trying to set up a Kenwood TM-D710GA as a remote Echolink repeater node (-R configuration).  I've followed the instructions in the manual and I'm well versed on using Echolink.  It seems that the RTS control signal is not being detected by the radio, so the radio doesn't transmit when a remote user connects in and hits the virtual "mic key" through Echolink.

Is anyone out there using a TM-D710GA as an Echolink node in sysop mode?   I'm starting to wonder if there is some step that needs to be done that isn't listed in the manual to use sysop mode.

After starting this thread, I found this helpful "cookbook" from Kenwood that explains all of the steps for setting up the TM-D710GA for Echolink. (The regular user's manual has just a couple of pages about Echolink setup.)
