PRA 10/80 VHF Amplifier info
« on: April 18, 2020, 08:24:45 PM »

Hi
I recently picked up this amp  from online and   so far ,no info found regarding some  schematics or  data sheets.  The PRA 10/80 VHF RF Amplifier from 143-156 mhz .Made in Salt Lake City Utah way back when.

It uses a SRF2092 which I found an ad for in an old 1980's  ham  parts  listing in  some  radio magazine online but other than that,no info found either.
Any familiar with this or maybe even just the Motorola RF transistor?
thanks for any help.

I believe the device is a BiPolar and the amp would be biased class C. It will only be good for FM and non-linear data modes.

Hi
That's a start. It is a very simple amp.Not even a power switch or if there was one, it was removed . I think it was hardwired into whatever power source with the fused  hot lead. I  got a switch , actually a light switch with a plastic housing to mount it into and it works for powering off instead of pulling out the fuse.
There are no switches for  modes or  in out and very simple build. It puts out way more than 80 watts. How long that would last is anyone's guess.
thanks
