They are the unsung heroes of the New Zealand war effort.  From tin huts dotted across the remote islands of the South Pacific, local men, women and in some cases entire villages supported the covert intelligence network for the New Zealand war administration during WWII.

There was a program on just recently..  GO FURTHER SOUTH   on a Prime channel https://www.primetv.co.nz/go-further-south-catchup, it goes down to the Auckland Islands among others and shows where some of the other coast watchers were stationed.   Its a bit of slow day programme but the sort of thing to pass under Covid lockdown with.
