importing lct files into Elsie
« on: April 26, 2020, 01:07:52 PM »

I have some old .lct files that I tried copying into a newly W10 installed Elsie program from an old W7 hard drive. They don't show up when I try to 'get old design' and also even if I copy them into the Elsie program directory, they don't even open up when I click on them and try to run them by selecting the program. I just get a runtime error. How do I import these old .lct files into the newly installed program?

Trouble is even if I run the W7 program from the old drive the old .lct files are located in a virtual location and open either since the computer is now W10 and all those associations apparently are gone.

Maybe if I copy them into the new virtual location, that may work. I'll see if I can so something, but if anyone knows for sure, be nice to know. I have a bunch I don't want to loose.

Well, that didn't work either. In my G drive, the W7 drive the new .lct files are in G:/users/?name?/AppData/local/VirtualStore/Program Files/Elsie and I copied one into C:/users/?name?/AppData/local/VirtualStore/Program Files/Elsie and it still won't find it. I did look in the .cfg file, but that just seems to be associated with some data was last loaded into the program the last time it was used.

I opened one of the .lct files with notepad and a lot of info is in there. I may be able just to import the stuff from reading the .lct in notepad and running a new design with the data, but it would all have to be typed in. Don't see any other way.

All of a sudden they started showing up. All I did was create a new one from the notepad entry I had and then they started showing up. Seems like it's working.
