Hello, 2E0ILY, Chris here, from the UK. I am new to the group and
wanting to put my ProSistel rotator on my mast. I have had it stored for
years and bought it used, but it has never been wet as it was used in
the roof space of a house to drive a "through the roof" mast. It came
with a ProSistel Type C controller box, and I seem to remember someone
telling me an IC in them was troublesome and if it failed the box was
scrap. Would anyone here know if this is correct?

If the Type C ProSistel controller is a nightmare, what do people
suggest I could use with this rotator, a Prosistel PST2051, it's the
type of ProSistel that uses a multi turn pot as the position feedback.

In fact, when searching to check the model, I found a YouTube video of
the very pairing of rotator and box I bought in 2013! I think he used
the video to assure buyers it worked OK.

Many thanks, 2E0ILY.

If you have the C box with the LCD display and the keypad, the more common problem is having to re-initialize the processor if it is not turned on every few months because the backup capacitor is depleted. It is a strange design that way but the cure is simple as described in the manual.

The processor is a programmed part but I believe they are still available. If worse came to worse, there are aftermarket controllers that integrate nicely into most common PC control programs.

Do consider plugging it into a mains surge protector and also adding a properly earthed surge protector on the control cable wires.
