Yaesu FT-857S Packet Issues
« on: May 25, 2020, 02:58:13 PM »

I am trying to get my Yaesu 857D running on 2m packet with a Kantronics KPC3+.  I can connect with another station on the other end, but I do not show a connection on my end.  Another station can connect to mine, but it does not show a connection on my end.  So it seems that the KPC3+ is not decoding the transmission from the other station.  My transmit and receive lights work on the KP3+.  Occasionally, my TNC decodes text from another station, but it does not show a connection.  I have switched out antennas, feed lines, computers, terminal programs, USB cables without success.  A friend tested my TNC with my cable on his radio (not an FT-857), and it worked perfectly.  I am using the rear panel jack and PKT mode and have menu 73 set to PKT1200.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
