Yaesu FTDX3000 versus FTDX3000D
« on: May 29, 2020, 05:35:45 AM »

Hi. Try as I might, I've not been able to understand the difference between the 3000 and the 3000D.
Is the "D" just the 3000 with upgraded firmware to enable the 'waterfall'?

thanks!

A phone call to Yaesu tech support should do it.

Same radio, when I bought mine in 2013 it said D on the box but the radio said 3000 on the front panel, I sold it but do not remember what the serial number tag said on the back. When you download there literature on line one page has 3000D the other says 3000, same radio.

Hello Ron, I have the 3000D and didn't know there was a plain 3000, interesting.

FYI--the scope on the yaesu sucks compared to my 7300:)

But yaesu has better RX

Thanks Curt. I have a 7300 and it's always the first radio I turn on. On either side of the 7300 are a 7610 and a TS-890. The 7300 is just SO easy to use.
I have the original 756PRO I purchased in Tokyo the week it was announced.
Of all the radios, the 756PRO has (IMHO) the best bandscope. Much higher vertical gain. No waterfall, but that's a minor point....

Ron, turn the reference level up on your 7300 from 7.5 (default)  to 20.0 and you will have all sorts of vertical gain.

Hi James. Yes, I've done plenty of adjusting with the Ref Level.
I live in a very small, old town here in North Florida. Every year, (around the start of the Es season), I have a problem with powerline RFI.
Luckily, our RFI investigator is an Extra and REALLY know his business finding problems.
I only mention this because the NB in the 7300 (and 7610) is just AMAZING!

That was the one and only issue I ever had with the old 756PRO. It did nothing. The NB on the 745 and 761, were both excellent.

Thanks again for the response.
