Doesn't the post office specify mail box height?  Isn't taking out the mailbox vandalism?  Seems like in real life the HOA vigilante would be the one in trouble.

I'm tired of seeing this commercial.  Seems rather stupid to me.

Man, sounds like my former HOA in Lake of the Pines East of Sacramento!!! I got dinged for having a 2 meter vertical bolted to the eaves of my house, a 1963 truck parked in the driveway and a split rail fence not approved by the "committee."  What other government uses the term "committee" for approval?

Never, ever again!!!!! I now live (cuz of a divorce) in a comfortable 26' travel trailer and love it. Thank goodness for endfed dipoles and small footprint verticals.

Stay safe and sane,

Did that location come with a P5 or BY prefix?

After I got elected HOA President, I rewrote the CC&Rs to allow for my 27' ZeroFive 40-10 GPV up on my townhouse 2nd story deck up a 20' pole. I put in language allowing for an 'effective' antenna.

Hah!

I visited a community where political activists took over the HOA board. They have a guy playing horrendously loud pop music all day every day. His nearest neighbor's houses are unliveable. The board says it's needed to "help people in the lockdown".

As I suspected, it looks like the commercial is showing the HOA vigilante committing a federal offense.

Seems like a stupid thing to do.  The funny part gets a bit thin here.

Ya' gotta lighten up, man...it's only a comical insurance commercial, depicting  unrealistic, over-the-top HOA inspections. You actually looked up a law against this?? I guess you need a sense of humor to understand its' intent ;).

Those that call the commercial stupid are in denial that similar problems don't exist in HOAs.

A previous HOA in El Dorado Hills, CA, where we lived, gave us a violation notice because my wife planted the wrong species of rose bush (aren't they the all the same?).  It evidently was not one of the 'approved' rose species.  The following month, we put the house up for sale...

I believe K1VSK Don Said:

"“Stupid” fits the false narrative a few here like to perpetuate"

and:

"And there's the narrative supporting this nonsense"

Don, I HATE to tell you this, but  the Truth is that while there ARE a few ancillary "stories" about HOAs that are "friendly" to Amateur Radio (and you may have come across one or two of these "stories" yourself) don't believe them! They always lack factual information to back their "claims" and are just outright nonsense!

The Truth is that the ARRL did their own fact finding and the unfortunate conclusion is that MOST HOAs are indeed not Amateur Radio Friendly.

And it gets worse:
HOA's are indeed a problem, and not just for Amateur Radio Operators! Here are some shameful examples of HOA Shenanigans indeed, and I'm certain Don, that you'll agree with the rest of us after becoming educated by reading the material in the link below that HOAs are way out of control and why we as amateur radio operators should all support legislation to REMOVE HOAs COMPLETELY from the decision making process when it comes to Ham Radio.
