Rig control using CW-Skimmer?
« on: June 16, 2020, 05:39:09 AM »

Hi all,
I was unsure about posting this question in the SDR section of the forum.
So please forgive if that is what I should have done.

For a pan-adapter and rig control I'm using HDSDR with a (now aged) SDR-IQ rcvr.
This requires two USB connections to the PC.
One for the rig (K3s) and one for SDR-IQ
This works nicely.

But if I want CW-Skimmer, I have to drop HDSDR.
This is because both HDSDR and CW-Skimmer need to control the SDR-IQ
And so I can only have HDSDR or CW-Skimmer running - but not both at the same time.

It occurs to me that CW-Skimmer has a small pan-adapter type display of signals on the band.

So my question is:
Is there a way to control the rig (K3s) by clicking on the frequency selected in CW-Skimmer?

I'm sure somebody will come in and explain it better (and in better english too), but before it happens...

A few years ago, I had connected IC-7200, afedri SDR, HDSDR and CW Skimmer. Everything was controlled by Omnirig. You could click on HDSDR or Skimmer waterfall, or dial frequency on IC-7200 and every other thing followed it. Unfortunately, I don't remember exact step by step instructions, but  thanks to Omnirig (the same author as CW Skimmer) it was quite simple to make it work.
