Linking two DR-1X Repeaters Over Air
« on: June 26, 2020, 07:46:07 PM »

I have two repeater sites, both running UHF with DR-1X repeaters in mixed mode (auto).

The repeaters are about 60 miles from each other.  I have access to separate yagi antennas at each site, so that the repeaters can possibly be linked to each other over the air.

I understand that the DR-1X and the FT-100DR and FT-400DR radios have 10 pin round accessory connectors on them, to connect them to the HRI box for WIRES-X linking.

However, has anyone tried tying the FT-100DR radio directly to the repeater, and having the FT-100DR radio set to work the distant repeater in digital mode so that the two repeaters can be linked together?  I wanted to ask here first before contacting Yaesu, because I know their solution to the linking would be to run a WIRES-X node on each end and link via the internet, however, I would prefer over the air linking if possible.

Thanks for any information.
