HW-8 cable
« on: July 11, 2020, 09:41:58 AM »

I can't seem to find a DC power cable for the HW-8.. There are some in China but are taking a month to be delivered.

Anyone have one or know where I can get one?

I bit the bullet and changed the power connection to a Powerpole...easy to do and never looked back!  73 - Dino KLØS

You could run the wires for a pigtail with Powerpole connector through the four unused pins of the Molex connector.  This is an easy way to get through the back panel of the rig.

If you are only going to use the HW8 with one power supply, an easy solution is to buy a two conductor trailer connector/socket combo.  Cost probably $ 3 at any auto supply store.  Probably could run one of the wires through each Molex hole, and later buy the correct Molex connector if you want.  Personally I use Anderson PP's for all of my 12 volt connections, but always use 2 pole trailer connectors for my 24 volt systems, and have standardized on on 3 pole trailer connectors for all of my 6 volt systems. (actually 3 pole trailer connectors are obsolete now, so I just cut down a 4 pole connector.).  No problem of me accidently connecting my 24 volt power supply to my 12 volt transceivers, or whatever.  These inexpensive connectors handle current well and work fine outside on my towers also.  Younger folks never make mistakes, so they do not need fool proof systems.
