I totally LOVE my HOA
« on: July 14, 2020, 03:27:16 PM »

I'm sitting in my air conditioned living room, chatting with my wife, and sipping a Tasty Adult Beverage. Outside it's 90 degrees, with a heat index of 101, and there are six men mowing my lawn. Yeah, a better antenna would be nice, but ya know...

I just finished cutting the front and back lawns and it's only 95F with the humidity. As I sit here on my 24x18' front patio, sipping a cold one, I can't help but look up and admire the A3S and other antennas glistening in the hot afternoon sun.  No HOA, but I'll take it.

It's 108 degrees, the humidity is 12 percent, the antennas are gently swaying, the pool is slightly rippled from the desert breezes, the saguaros are reaching up to the sky and there is no lawn to even think about, just gravel with ground squirrel holes, roadrunners and gopher snakes.  Ahhh, life in the Sonoran desert!

Spent time out on our back deck, too.   Sunning and sipping an adult beverage in our pleasantly warm 66 degrees, 50% humidity.  Clean air,  green lush growth all around,  my antennas sparkling in the sun,  Pacific ocean roaring in the distance,   really nice.    We have CC&Rs, too,  but no enforcement body,  so no problems at all.

KD2HU, do you have an antenna of some sort in the air? I lived under the controlling thumb of an HOA for 7 years....never again!! Besides the antenna thing, I wasn't allowed to ride my motorcycle in the HOA and coming home from work, I had to park the bike in storage which was located outside the HOA and walk home or call for a ride.

HOA, never again!

My antenna is a fan dipole in the attic, nothing outside. I've been back on the air it'll be 2 months tomorrow, and I've worked 29 states, and 6 countries; mostly 20m, but some 10m and 6m, both SSB and CW. I'm running 100 watts. I'm having a ball!!!

I have a HOA, High Overhead Antenna. 45 Acres in New Mexico with enough room for Rotating Rhombic Antennas.

Never will I live under the thumb of a HOA.

My HOA here in Dallas really, really stinks, ( i.e. Sucks )  I can wait to be able to get out of here. I can't even fart outside the house, not even a silent one.

Screw HOA's, if your too old to mow your own lawn hire a lawn care service, of clean you own pool hire a service for that as well plus even if you don't want to clean your own home hire a maid. All three will be a hell of allot cheaper than those overpriced HOA fee's!
I live in SW Florida were its 97F, humidity almost all summer but I have a lawn tractor and mow my own lawn plus trimming, takes less than an hour then I jump in my pool which is 85F and soak for a while with an adult beverage and relax. At 68 I plan on doing this for as long as I can cause even those bozo's cutting your grass don't do the same job as doing it yourself plus NOBODY to tell me I cannot have an antenna in my yard, a boat parked in my driveway or an RV on the side of my home. HOA's are for pussies!

Congratulations!  I've been having a blast on 6M this season.  26 new countries on 6M with a 4 element Yagi at 20 ft!  Over the weekend I worked Japan and Svalbard!

Ya'll let us know how you really feel about living with an hoa !  Not for me.  It falls under my never never list right up there with never living in a right to work state or a state with an income tax...
