Special Event Station K5R

Special Event Station K5R sponsored by KD5PCK

Hurricane Katrina was the eleventh named storm and fifth hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Rita was the fourth–most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded and the most intense tropical cyclone ever observed in the Gulf of Mexico.

When all else failed, hams from across the nation assisted with establishing communications into and out of the entire Gulf Coast area.

Commemoration of the 15th anniversary of these two devastating storms will take place the weekend of August 28 through 30, 2020. Look for phone and CW activity on 40 and 20 meters.
More information on the frequencies in use and how to obtain a certificate will be posted in the K5R Facebook group.

Even though Hurricane Laura is looking to make landfall near the LA/TX state line, plans are still in place to hold the special event station K5R this weekend. We will be commemorating the 15th anniversaries of Hurricanes Katrina & Rita in 2005. I plan to be operating from at least one park this weekend to make it a POTA activation. Who knows, I may make it to more than one park.

Myself and Don, AE5DW, will handle the voice operations and John, AA5UY, and Judy, AA5UZ, will be running CW.

Too much noise on my end. Moved to 7.280.
Keep an eye on D Summit for spots.

Getting low on certificates. If you haven't sent in for one yet, hurry up. Once I run out, I'll have to wait a while to make it worth it to print some more. Thanks.
