Anydesk help
« on: July 16, 2020, 07:47:59 PM »

Hi All,

I'm retired and live in Thailand.  I have a remote station in VE3 (12 time zones away) that has been working very well with Chrome Remote Desktop.    However, CRD quit working recently; the computer in VE3 constantly shows up as offline even though my host confirms that the computer and radio are running and online.

I have installed Anydesk and am trying that instead.  It installs easily enough.  My host in VE3 installed it and sent me the 9-digit code plus the password he created for unattended access...but, I can't connect.  I enter the information and it keeps asking me for the password.

I dunno.  It seems simple enough, yet it doesn't work.  There's plenty of info on the Anydesk website, but it appears to be for people using the paid versions.

I'm wondering if there is some additional registration free version users have to go through before it will work...or maybe it's related to Chrome Remote Desktop suddenly not working?

Any thoughts?

Ha!  Cancel that!

I tried logging on again a short while ago and everything works again, for no reason that I can find.  For the last 2 days I would start Chrome Remote Desktop but my remote computer in VE3 appeared to be offline.

Today, I started everything up and there was my computer, only under a different name.  Everything works fine.  I don't understand what happened but I'm happy it sorted itself out!

Hi Ken, one thing I have noticed is some browsers will capitalize the first letter of a word automatically. Since the password is hidden its easy to miss. I have seen this stop logins before...
