I was a new ham's first contact yesterday
« on: August 21, 2020, 11:08:24 AM »

A newly licensed ham got on the local 2m repeater.  I was his first contact.   :)

Told him that ham radio is a great hobby/service, and interesting.

According to http://www.hamdata.com/getcall.html?callsign=KD2ULK he got his license yesterday.   :)

I usually don't log 2m repeater QSOs on LOTW, but I added this one.

I have sent a QSL card to a new ham when I was one of their first QSOs, even if it was on a repeater, just to try and keep the excitement going for them!

I provided a YL with her first PSK31 contact.  She sent a handmade QSL.  I still have it.

I got lucky and got ahold of a gem of a fella for my first contact in 2019 when I got my license. We were on hf and he sent me a QSL card for my first contact. Fun to keep...
