tks - i guess i should have been more clear, but everything worked out OK...
- snipped the rj45 end off the cord for a spare MH-31 (a clone actually, a TenQ, which sounds as good as if not better than Yazoo's mic and has same tone 1/2 switch)
- soldered on the requisite GND, PTT, MIC GND, MIC, and +9V lines to an 8-pin mic plug
- definitely agree with the processor and tone switch settings
it was an interesting exercise... after almost 20 years i have never had to do that kind of mic plug (although i had plenty of experience before the much small 8-pin mini-DINs used with Apple's MacOS machines in the 80s-90s; it doesn't get any easier, especially at my age - LOL!)
