any TT 539 owners?
« on: September 01, 2020, 09:48:36 AM »

hey folks... love qrp rigs and had a question regarding a compatible mic for the Argonaut VI... is the Yaesu MH-31 usable with a 4-pin rewire (no up/down) to the rig's 8 pin mic DIN?

The MH-31 will work with out rewiring.  The up down buttons do not do anything that I see, which is good.  I run the rig with the processor set to 3 and the tone switch set to 1 with excellent results.

tks - i guess i should have been more clear, but everything worked out OK...

- snipped the rj45 end off the cord for a spare MH-31 (a clone actually, a TenQ, which sounds as good as if not better than Yazoo's mic and has same tone 1/2 switch)

- soldered on the requisite GND, PTT, MIC GND, MIC, and +9V lines to an 8-pin mic plug

- definitely agree with the processor and tone switch settings

it was an interesting exercise... after almost 20 years i have never had to do that kind of mic plug (although i had plenty of experience before the much small 8-pin mini-DINs used with Apple's MacOS machines in the 80s-90s; it doesn't get any easier, especially at my age - LOL!)
