The Gloucester County Amateur Radio Club Hamfest was held today in Mullica Hill NJ, and was a successful event. All of the tailgating spaces were filled, and a large share of the covered pavilion tables were as well. It was quite apparent that hams in the region were ready to return to the hamfests. Just a month or two ago, it was not possible because all such venues had been ordered closed by the various authorities. We did not really know what to expect, but we went all-in as soon as our facility re-opened, and are glad that we did. It was a great morning weather-wise and for the most part, everyone was polite and considerate.  Thanks to all who showed up, and hope to see you again next September.

Grats Tony on your successful hamfest. Good for you folks!
I don't want to start any debates or lectures but I am curious how social distancing and masks were handled? Any requirements or requests made from the organizers with those two issues. And regardless of that what percentage of folks do you estimate were actually wearing masks?
Curious but I also fall into one of those high risk types class and  looking for some expectations if our local event happens next spring as bunch of old maskless men hugging and handshaking is a bit scary to me , even before covid:)

Best wishes. John K1JRF

Thank you John.  Everyone entering the facility was required to wear a mask at all times, and compliance was exceptionally high. We did not hold any indoor programs or seminars, and the tables in the covered pavilions were widely spaced apart. The large and open nature of our facility ( 4-H Fairground ) lent itself well to social distancing, as we were able to spread out without running out of space. Walking around the facility at the peak of the event, to me, felt far safer than a trip to my local supermarket. Hopefully next year we won't have to take such drastic measures, but we are prepared to do so if necessary. 73 de K3TS.

The New England Air Museum has been able to open its hangers for visitors and maintain social distancing.  90,000 feet of space helps!
