How do y'all log special event stations?
« on: September 19, 2020, 03:37:20 PM »

I've worked some, and got QSL's (paper and electronic) from them, but I've also got QSL's from the "real" op of the special event station, with their own callsign; but not from the special event callsign that's in my log. In one case I got eQSL's from TWO op's (man and wife I think) but neither were in my log, and I didn't log either of them in eQSL. My log says I worked W#@, but I have no QSL from W#@. Not a big deal to me, I colored in the state on the WAS map I keep (which is all I really care about), but somehow it just doesn't seem right. Does W#@@@ need a contact in Mississippi; does he care that I didn't log him on any of the on-line logging sites by his call but I did by the special event call? IT'S ALL SO CONFUSING!!!

To be honest, my daughter always tells me, "Just because YOU'RE confused doesn't mean it's actually confusing." So can someone 'splain it to me? TNX es 73.

Log the call you worked.  Simple.

I don’t know why certain ops do this; seems like they’re trying to have it both ways.  Their issue and their problem... not yours.

I’ve been going through this almost every year with 1 or 2 ops in the 13 Colonies Special Event.  I worked K2x, but the eQSL log shows AK1z.  I reject it; he emails me protesting it’s legit because he was the op.  Well, no.  His call isn’t in the log, so, no soup for you.

So... no, you’re not confused.  The other op or ops are trying to fool you.  Advice:  Don’t play their little game.

You should only log the special event station call, as that is the station you worked, unless the operator also takes time to work you in a separate QSO using their callsign.

Having been a special event op, the above also was my policy.
