Stealthy Vertical

At my last HOA property I "solved" the problem with a stealthy vertical. It consisted of Tarheel HP100 screwdriver inside a 4" x 4" hollow vinyl fence post. On the side at the top a bird house was mounted making it a handsome birdhouse installation just 5' above ground.

For daytime use on 40-10 meters a 3' SS whip was installed. That was full stealth mode. All whips used quick connectors and swapping whips was a 20 second operation. Under cover of darkness the antenna would grow, depending on the band and performance desired. For maximum performance, and 160-40 meter coverage, a 24' whip was installed yielding a great DX antenna on 80 meters. It delivered acceptable performance on 160 meters. In between whips were configured from a 15' Hustler extension and 3', 6' and 9' SS whips. The GND system was a bit overboard with 90 radials covering a 25' x 50' backyard. The antenna was mounted in the center, 13' from the house.

Power up to 1200 watts was run on CW and surprisingly the adjacent neighbors (~50' away) reported no RFI. I experienced RFI only on 160 meters where it would get into the Ethernet.
