Kenwood TH-D74A and APRS
« on: October 13, 2020, 03:48:39 PM »

I bought the Kenwood TH-D74A and have a really interesting thing happening. I use APRS a lot when I hike and I noticed there are three weather stations and for some reason, I do not get any of the weather data on my HT. I can use aprs.fi and findu.com and see the weather data on them so I know they are transmitting the data. Anyone else having issues with that? How did you resolve it?

I believe you have to press list then select the received station from the list to display the info.

I do that. I can see stations and see other details like GPS coordinates and statuses. On the weather stations, I get to the screen with all the weather data and it is all blank.

I see this all the time. People have weather enabled in their rig but never hooked up any weather equipment.

Want to see another weird thing people do? Zoom out an the APRS map and see how many US stations are in the middle of oceans Antarctica and Russia. https://www.aprsdirect.com/center/-77.57510,-5.09388/zoom/8/time/60 Too bad they have not figured out their actual latitude and longitude.
