I agree about the controller. When I had my LTH-II, I had an MFJ unit that I had set to several frequencies then used the internal tuner for cleanup (TS-480).  I had the head located on a secured shelf on the dash of my Grand Cherokee. This way I never had to take my eyes off the road, something I'm a big stickler about. (I grew up with a father who among all the things he did was a photographer for the county sheriff department, so I had a near front seat to a lot of accidents he would be called to, either first hand or later when he developed the negatives.)

Since the usual suspects, Hi-Q and Tarheel, are not able to supply product right now in a timely fashion and I'm not willing to sell any of my organs to finance a Scorpion, I've gone ahead and ordered the Atas-120A. Not my first choice but if it proves to not meet the minimum of my expectations, I may get one of the above products hoping they're caught up with production issues.

Thanks to all for their fine input!

Which Tarheel were you looking at?

Gigaparts sight says they have the following in stock and ready to ship

Baby Tarheel in black.  https://www.gigaparts.com/baby-tarheel-screwdriver-antenna-7-54-mhz.html

Tarheel Model 40A HP Package. https://www.gigaparts.com/model-40a-hp-package.html

Call them to be sure.

I have both a Scorpion SA-680 (Installing on my truck at this time) and a Hi-Q 4/80 (Installed on my offroad only '97 wrangler).  Hi-Q got me a contact from So Cal to Hawaii on 5 watts of power and the SA-680 got me a contract from SoCal to New Jersey on 20 watts.

I know there was some speculation about Hi-Q Antennas; here's the latest from their website:
https://hiqantennas.com/tempclosed.htm?viewcart

Thanks for the information.  I was looking into purchasing one of his Tune-A-Dipoles with 6/160 antennas or the Scorpion Dipole.

Hope Charlie got a crap ton of money for the business.

I drive a Toyota Tacoma  solution I use...
8ft whip for 10M, 15m centerloaded whip,  20M whip, 40M whip..

Care to elaborate on the mount point and the types of whips?  Do you run an antenna tuner on 10 meters and 15 meters with the plain (non-loaded) 8 ft whip?  Are the center-loaded antenna(s) you use on 20 meters and 40 meters "HamStick" type antennas, or Hustler RM-20/RM-40 resonators, or ...?

Diamond Antennas makes the SD-330, which is a screwdriver type antenna.  I have no idea as to its availability or effectiveness, but is may be another option to look into.
