But it remains the truth, no matter how it's packaged, or much you don't want to see it.

PR and Customer service are very important to any business.  I maintain that it is not unreasonable to expect a courteous reply from any retail company, even if it is not the answer you were looking for.

I'll maintain you are not wrong.
What is wrong is asking for "support" in order to expedite a for fee repair , not getting it and then complaining about it with a liberal dose of "sour grapes" type comments reviewing and speculating on the past, present and future of the company.

Which of course conjours all the spirits :)

Hi,

Do I understand you correctly, that if someone is repairing a radio and getting paid, they are not entitled to ask a question of the radio manufacturer, and ONLY a individual owner has that right.  Given that TenTec did not know if he was the "owner", and he RECEIVED NO REPLY, NONE, ZERO, ZILCH.

And also in a Forum Titled "Company Review", only owners are entitled to post "review" of THEIR EXPERIENCE in dealing with the "company" and their lack of response.

In my 62 years in Amateur Radio, I have owned radios and accessories made by at least 50 manufacturers, foreign and domestic. At one time or another,  I have probably contacted many of them for assistance in a repair or adjustment, I can honestly say I was NEVER denied that assistance, or ignored.  And, also, I am sure none of them knew if I was the owner or not.

That sir is the good old "Amateur Radio Spirit".

73,

John

maybe you missed it right there on the first post of this thread:

Anyway, it took them a week to return an email. I won't call it an answer because they didn't address the question at all.
They did suggest that I send it in for a minimum service fee of $140 with additional work
billed at $125/hr.

That's NOT  "and he RECEIVED NO REPLY, NONE, ZERO, ZILCH."

Would the moderators please put this thread out of our misery!

to what end?  so the PFC can start start or hijack the next TT threads?

Ten-Tec is going thru a difficult transition period which hasn't been helped by COVID and the resulting cessation of operations which followed.

Patience is a good approach, but one which seems in short supply in these threads.  Here are the basics:

* TT has plans to release xcvrs in the future, but costs and demand present real challenges.

* a wait and see approach is indicated, but that is not the option of choice for internet message board enthusiasts  :D

Wait and see??? Were you able to type that with a straight face 😂😂
How long.. another 5 years???

your apparent inability to comprehend what "wait and see" indicates when used in an open-ended format is noted with amusement
psssst: it is longer than the 32 minutes you waited before replying ;)
Ya Dude whatever..hope at least you understand yourself when you talk in riddles.

I bet that everyone on this thread either owns, or has owned, one or more Ten Tec radio transceivers.  Not talking mics or accessories, only transceivers.

I am also betting that no one on this thread has bought a radio transceiver from the current Ten Tec, not RF Concepts, or RKR, but the current Ten Tec.  If you have, then please speak up.

I don't understand why the same small group of amateurs, amateurs who have not purchased a radio from the current company, amateurs who have no skin in the game, continue to try and block any discussion about this particular company.  They are so unusually defensive over a hobby toy, it is difficult to believe that they are well balanced individuals.

I don't see that happening with any other radio company, American or foreign anywhere on this web site.

W5JON made the case for customer service very well indeed.  It should not matter one bit if you are the owner, or someone who is repairing the radio for the owner.  Good customer service promotes good will, that translates to sales and brand loyalty.

Right you are...three TenTec rigs in my Amateur history.
