Bought some left over cabinets from one of the big box stores, to use as a base. Reinforced the with 2x4's stained to match. Attached heavy duty casters to the bottom frame for mobility. Made a top out of 2x4's. Used industrial style wiring channels to run cables and wiring.

Plan out what you need before you start, it can save you a lot of time and money.

My shack is minimal. I use a solid wood desk with a sliding keyboard tray as described by Zak.  I also have a worn office chair. Both these items were donated by my daughter.

Storage space is limited with radio, meter, & tuner so an add-on hutch is in the works to store books and a boatanchor receiver. All materials are on hand, just need to get down & do it.
