Site problems?
« on: November 18, 2020, 12:36:10 PM »

Why am I seeing the Apache server software message (indicating site has failed or is down for maintenance) much of the time (last 2-3 weeks) when I attempt to go to www.eham.net?

Think I found the problem. eHam appears to be one of a very few websites not compatible with my VPN.

Glad you found the issue, or at least, a suspect.

What VPN?

Maybe it’s a setting within?

I am using the Norton VPN; works correctly with hundreds of websites. So far, the only websites I have found to be incompatible with this VPN are eHam.com and QTH.com. QTH.com displays a message that it is not compatible with VPNs; eHam merely displays the Apache server page and states that the website is down or undergoing maintenance. Could be a setting in the VPN software, but since I have had no other problems, I haven't yet dug into the issue. When I turn the VPN off, eHam works as it should.

A VPN should only change your IP address as seen by the web page you are visiting nothing else. Maybe Norton has something else attached to its application.
