Simplest Fool-proof way to keyboard CW?
« on: November 21, 2020, 07:03:14 PM »

OK, I tried RTL-SDR: worked once for 3 minutes.
Switched to Signalink-USB and FLdigi: After 50 hours of trying, no glory.
Works on TX but not RX.

Is there a SIMPLE, fool-proof way to get keyboard CW working?
What combination of hardware, software is tried and true?

(That is fool-proof even for this fool!)

Sending CW by keyboard as you have found out, is relatively easy.  CW copy by computer is hard because many of the louder stations are sending hand sending CW using keyer paddles rather than keyboards.  It may help to arrange schedules with operators who are sending with keyboards.

FLDIGI doesn't track the speed of the received signal.  You have to do that on your own, with the control at the lower-left corner of the screen.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.  Even the ARRL Bulletins and code practice can be problematic.

So, what's a good communications program?
I am using FLdigi, but cannot get it working.
Are there simpler, easier to use programs?

I KNOW once I get the SignaLink working I'll be happy, but no satisfaction yet.
