Slow to ship: DX Eng.
« on: December 21, 2020, 07:47:05 PM »

Ordered two ham-sticks Dec. 12. They finally sent it to the carrier on Dec. 21.
Another week to travel to my home town.
I think I could train a dog to do it faster!
1. Print out the order. 2. Fetch from inventory. 3. Deliver to the carrier.

QUESTION: Am I just spoiled by Amazon Prime's 2nd day delivery?
(Or maybe it's the pandemic affecting manpower.)

I ordered many times from them. Always very fast unless they don't have in stock.

Did you read the statement in big bold letters on their site that delivery may be delayed beause shippers and suppliers are behind ?    Many companies including my company are having delay problems because of the pandemic.
You owe DX Engineering an apology for your negative post.

Strange. I never had a problem. 3-4 days the product was in my hands even here in Canada. That is one reason I always use DX Engineering. Are you sure that the items were actually in stock, DX Engineering would have sent you an email saying products were back ordered. Somethings are beyond their control, even the shipping is beyond their control. All couriers and Postal tell everyone to expect some delay's due to Christmas time on top of the Pandemic.

Patience is warranted.

Yes, it isn't just a DX Eng problem. Several vendors I use are having prompt shipping problems. Cut them some slack.

DX does not have its own delivery system like Amazon does. Makes a huge difference. Also, DX doesn't have fulfillment centers all over the country like Amazon does. Another huge difference.

My experience is that shipping times across the board are taking longer due to the pandemic.  Add that to the list of new norms hihi.

Many vendors make a point of noting that on their websites so you may want to check that before ordering in the future.   Glad you got your ham sticks.

I have no connection the DX Engineering. I'm just a customer who has ordered many things from them -- some major purchases many lessor ones -- for years. I have never had any problems -- delays, errors -- nothing. These are difficult times on many levels. Maybe they have a few staff out? Who doesn't? Maybe their carrier just didn't show up for a couple days to take things ready to go. No doubt your situation is real and frustrating. But let's not flame a very good solid vendor with a long term excellent reputation. We don't have that any of them and have recently lost one -- let's appreciate the few good ones we still have.

Hi,

No problem here with DXE, always very fast shipment, very knowledgeable sales folks, good prices, and a company that really supports the Amateur Radio community. So as a long time customer, not much more I could ask for.

I read an article last week that said both UPS and FedEx were limiting the number of packages that they were accepting into their systems because of the unprecedented shipping demand. When they reach their limits they simply stop picking up. It's possible that DX Engineering had the package ready to go but it wasn't picked up as planned.

A Covid-19 infection  requires a shutdown and delays.  Even if they are physically able to work they can't because we don't want them to spread the disease.
Would you want infected workers handling your packages?

Both FedEx & UPS are short of everything to complete their deliveries.

About two weeks ago I saw an article that said both FedEx and UPS had gobbled up all the vans etc from the major leasing companies and still short of vehicles for deliveries to the destination.  Up here in the Chi town area, as of 21 December, UPS is still looking for drivers with personal vehicles, including cars, to complete deliveries.

And, as of 21 December, UPS is STILL ADVERTISING for delivery assistants and offering $20.00 an hour!

I worked as a parcel delivery assistant for the legendary Marshall Field & Co. for 1965 - 1970 Christmas seasons.  Times were slower then but the work was still BRUTAL!

Slow, read what all the shippers are saying. It’s Christmas and COVID-19. Cut them some slack.

Indeed. It's all over the news, the pandemic, holidays, UPS and FedEx are overwhelmed and shippers are utilizing the USPS to take up the slack, then there's the shenanigans of our Postmaster...

The USPS postmaster had 711 sorting machines by 9/2020 and that has slowed everything; https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/usps-removed-711-sorting-machines/index.html and they are not bringing them back; https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/21/usps-chief-dejoy-no-intention-to-bring-back-removed-mail-sorting-machines.html

I live in Ohio. Same DXE. If I order an in-stock item early am I have it the next day UPS.
No complaints on DXE for me.

The longest it has taken is 3 days on an oversized item.

Now R&L and HRO charge your card for items that are out of stock even if they don't ship for2 months.

What happened to not charging until shipped!!!
