I live in Ohio. Same DXE. If I order an in-stock item early am I have it the next day UPS.
I live about 20 minutes from their showroom and if it's in stock I simply drive there to get the item.

That's a dangerous proposition, as DXE is co-headquartered with Summit Racing and I can $pend a pile on automotive stuff - especially tools.

Know that feeling...dropped my share of money on the Summit side as well.

Hi,

Both DXE and Summit are top notch.  I ordered a clutch spring for my 20 year old, "garage princess" Corvette and had it in two days from Summit Racing.

I waited almost 2 months this fall for delivery of the 43’ MBVE with tilt plate. The parts were shipped to me as soon as DXE received them.

This was no fault of DX Engineering. They were waiting on their suppliers, who couldn’t get product to make the parts.

Covid world is really screwing up every industry. We all hope the world goes back to Normal SOON!

Slow, read what all the shippers are saying. It’s Christmas and COVID-19. Cut them some slack.

Indeed. It's all over the news, the pandemic, holidays, UPS and FedEx are overwhelmed and shippers are utilizing the USPS to take up the slack, then there's the shenanigans of our Postmaster...

The USPS postmaster had 711 sorting machines removed by 9/2020 and that has slowed everything; https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/usps-removed-711-sorting-machines/index.html and they are not bringing them back; https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/21/usps-chief-dejoy-no-intention-to-bring-back-removed-mail-sorting-machines.html

FIFY. The article is correct. The postmaster general is an appointee of the current administration who was given charge to basically drive the USPS into the private sector by making it nonfunctional and he is doing just that. In addition to removing the sorting machines, he also cut overtime for the agency which has had the obvious negative effect. On top of all this, one of the effects of Covid has been to increase the amount of packages in the shipping system by 40% over last year. Another side effect has of course been the number of workers off work. A few days ago, the news reported there were over 19,000 postal employees off either because they had Covid or were being quarantined because they had tested positive or had been exposed.

So blaming sellers for shipping delays is wrong. For UPS and FedEx, the blame lies with Covid. For USPS it lies with Covid and the Postmaster General.

Look Dave, I can see you’re really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

There is the inconvenient truth that first class mail volume is on a clear downward trend for the last two decades1. It is now about 1/2 the volume it was in 2001. The sorting machines are starved and are very expensive to maintain. It makes sense to adjust the infrastructure to suit the current conditions when there is no hint of recovery.

Stop, Dave. Will you stop Dave? Stop, Dave. I’m afraid.

It does seem strange to shut things down in middle of a pandemic in which many experts predicted a Second Wave that presumably would increase demand.

First class sorting machines do not sort packages.

The world is obviously heading toward fully electronic communications and bill payment. The hay days of first class letters are behind us. Time to adjust.

USPS had a 3% drop in package volume in 2019. Perhaps that will rebound but that isn't the subject of this thread nor does it support the silly USPS conspiracy theory.

There was an entirely predictable demand for mail in ballots as the USA that presumably would increase the demand for first class mail.
I wonder how many Americans had no idea there was an election going on?  $14 billion was spent on 2020 Elections.

QUESTION: Am I just spoiled by Amazon Prime's 2nd day delivery?
(Or maybe it's the pandemic affecting manpower.)
Yes I think so, and not taking into consideration the time of year and the shutdown. Not even Amazon is keeping 2nd day delivery record clean.

USPS removed the sorting machine at our local Post Office years ago. Actually during the Bush administration. But it was still Trumps fault according to some. Some of the nonsense here is crazy.
