CORES login
« on: December 23, 2020, 12:39:10 PM »

Is it necessary to maintain a CORES account?
I did register, received FRN before taking exams. Have a password, secret question and answer for my ULS login.

I figured I was done with CORES after receiving my FRN. Unless managing multiple FRNs for an entity,  what's the purpose of logging into CORES,  when I can update my info in the ULS?

CORES is where your FRN and related data is stored and managed. Your FRN links to any license records that you have.

The procedures for the new, upcoming renewal requirements appear to allow you to update some FRN information (e.g. email address) through a license renewal as a convenience factor. But you could also log into CORES and update your email address associated with your FRN.

It is also worth noting that you cannot log into your "license", only CORES from which you can access your license.

Actually, it seems like the opposite, in my situation.
I can login to the ULS license manager. When I tried to login to CORES, I received a warning about being locked out after 5 attempts (if an account exists).

Also see there's a new Updated version of CORES, so I may as well register in the new version.

Well, that is interesting - things are apparently changing. I am very curious to hear what you learn through the process. Please report back.

I've got the same problem as SOFAR mentioned. My FCC issued password is valid
when I login to the ULS License Manager, but CORES says password is invalid and
they will lock me out after 5 failed attempts. Help!!! note: I can't find any line item
in my ULS License Manager listing to show/enter an email address. Help!!!

                         73, and take care

I do intend to follow up with more info, as I sort things out. Just haven't gotten to it.

Do you recall setting up a security question and answer?
It looks like you may have.
Try entering your FRN here  for password reset: https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/enterFrnForPwdReset.do;jsessionid=xT5PgYfJLzMtjSgxJ3nJYGTLw7hBYy9gjYLkdtv2XxKTHnMjDJLc!1697609860!-1651790346

Edit to add: while logged into License Manager, there's an option to modify or change info. I entered my email address, clicked save/modify. Then received a confirmation email from the FCC 2 days later.

SOFAR, my problem isn't with the ULS License Manager password,
my problem is with the CORES password not same as ULS.

note: I successfully login ULS License Manager with my
FRN# and FCC issued password, but don't see any
place to show/enter an email address in the ULS.

note: I'm beginning to think that I might have to create
a CORES account and password from scratch?

You want to update, or add your email address?

Log in to ULS License Manager.
The 'My Licenses' page should come up. Or navigate to it.
>to the right it says 'Work on this license'.
>click update
>first page will ask if you're exempt from regulatory fees, just click continue.
>second page is licencee information. Update or add information, then click continue. You will be asked to E-sign and submit the update.

You will receive a confirmation email from the FCC within a couple days.

Note: There's an option at the upper right to 'Quit Application' if you're not ready to submit.

You should be able to reset your CORES password by following the link I posted. And answering your security question.

There's also a new updated CORES.

Were you able to add or change your email address?

I can add more information, after seeing what you've accomplished.

Here's the CORES password reset page, enter your FRN, and it will show your security question : https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/enterFrnForPwdReset.do;jsessionid=xT5PgYfJLzMtjSgxJ3nJYGTLw7hBYy9gjYLkdtv2XxKTHnMjDJLc!1697609860!-1651790346

SOFAR, after I successfully login to the ULS with my FRN# and my FCC issued password
I clicked on 'MY LICENSES' and then I clicked on 'UPDATE/MODIFY' and then my
sequential keystrokes diverged from your keystrokes. But, the good news is that
I got to see that the ARRL had entered my correct email address in the ULS when
they renewed my Amateur license in 2018.

73, and tnx for your help and your keystroke expertise
